Week of May 17, 2010

Wednesday- Field day 9:30-11:30. Students should wear their red class t-shirt with comfortable shorts and tennis shoes. Field day is from 9:30-11:30 and a snack will be provided half way through the events. After field day, we will have a picnic, so students should bring a sack lunch and a beach towel.

Thursday- Honors day 8:45. Parents are invited to our room after honors day. I will be presenting gifts to the students.

Friday- 6th grade promotion 8:45.

Do to so many activities this week, during class we are working on our portfolios, finishing up reading by doing our intellectual art, reviewing, and cleaning out desks and lockers.

There are NO more tests this year!

Week of May 10, 2010

Reading- We are working on a review unit for F&F. We are reviewing each skill and visual tool that the students have learned this year. They will have to know them in 5th grade, so we are taking the last few weeks of school to do a review unit. Most students chose "Titanic Crossing" as their review book. A few students chose to read "Number the Stars." We will not have any more tests in reading this year; however, there will be some more grades taken such as the students' book reports and phonics.

Math- We are continuing to work on decimals this week.

English- We are working on poetry this week in class.

Social Studies- 50 Capitals Test Thurs. May 13. The students will be given the state, and they must write the correct capital beside it. They must also spell the capitals correctly.

Spelling- Capitals Test Thurs. May 13. The students must know how to spell all 50 capitals correctly. This is our LAST spelling test for this year!

Bible Verse- Deut. 13:4 Test Thurs. This is our LAST verse for this year!

Phonics- Pg. 174-192 due Fri. May 21.

May 14-End of the Year Party. Parents, please meet us in the lobby at 10:30!
May 19- Field Day. Parents, please meet us down by the football field at 8:45!
May 20- Honor's Day
May 21- 6th grade Graduation

Week of May 3, 2010

Reading- We are starting a review unit for F&F. We are reviewing each skill and visual tool that the students have learned this year. English- Post Test will be Wed. May 5. This is a review of 4th grade English. We will be reviewing in class prior to Wed.

Social Studies- 50 States Test Fri. May 7. The students must know where the state is located and how to spell each state. 50 Capitals Test Thurs. May 13. The students will be given the state and they must write the correct capital beside it. They must also spell the capitals correctly.

Spelling- States Test Fri. May 7. The students must know how to spell all 50 states correctly.
Capitals Test Thurs. May 13. The students must know how to spell all 50 capitals correctly. These will be the last 2 spelling test for this year!

Bible Verse- Deut. 6:6-7a Test Thurs.

Phonics- Pg. 169-173 due Mon. May 10.

Book Report book needs to be read by Wed. May 5. The students should not turn their book report books in until Fri. May 7.

Reading- We are finishing unit, Fact and Opinion. The students have their pattern statement, process questions, and visual tool in their pink folder. They should be memorizing them. The books the students have finished are either "Inventing the Future: A Photobiography," "Click! A Story about George Eastman," or "Walking the Road to Freedom." Our Vocabulary Test is Wed. April 28, and our Skills and Performance Tests is Thurs. April 29.

Math- Ch. 18 Quiz Tues. April 27. The student also have flash cards for this chapter. They should know them.

English- Ch. 14 Test will be Wed. April 28.

Social Studies- Midwest States and Capitals Test Tues. April 27. The students must know where the state is located and how to spell each state and capital.

Spelling- Lesson 33 Test Fri.

Bible Verse- Deut. 6:4-5 Test Thurs.

Phonics- Pg. 161-166 due Mon. May 3.

Math- We started Ch. 18 today. Ch. 18 Quiz Tues. April 27. The student also have flash cards for this chapter. They should be studying them.

Reading- We are starting our next unit, Fact and Opinion. The students have their new pattern statement, process questions, and visual tool in their pink folder. They should be memorizing them. The books the students will be reading are either "Inventing the Future: A Photobiography," "Click! A Story about George Eastman," or "Walking the Road to Freedom." Our Vocabulary Test will be Wed. April 28, and our Skills and Performance Tests will be Thurs. April 29.

Math- Ch. 17 Quiz Fri. April 16. The student have flash cards for this chapter. They will be on the test.

English- Ch. 13 Test will be Wed. April 14.

Social Studies- Midwest States and Capitals Test Tues. April 27. (they received the map today). The students must know where the state is located and how to spell each state and capital. We began Ch. 8 today (no chapter tests this nine weeks).

Spelling- Lesson 31 Test Fri.

Bible Verse- 2 Timothy 3:16 Test Thurs. The students must say the OT books of the Bible by April 16 and the NT books of the Bible by April 22.

Phonics- Pg. 151-155 due Mon. April 19.

We will be going to see "Hello Dolly" Tuesday, and our Pink Palace Field Trip is Thursday. Don't forget your sack lunch.

Week of April 5

Reading- We are finishing unit, Comparison and Contrast. The students have their pattern statement, process questions, and visual tool in their pink folder. They should be memorizing them. The books the students are reading are either "Blue Jasmine," Baseball Fever," or "A Week in the Woods." Our Vocabulary Test will be Thurs. April 8, and our Skills and Performance Tests will be Fri. April 9.

Math- Ch. 22 Test Wed. April 7. Then we will begin geometry.

English- We started Ch. 13 today. Ch. 13 Test will be Wed. April 14.

Social Studies- We finished our state report today in class. States and Capitals Test Tues. (TOMORROW). The students must know where the state is located and how to spell each state and capital. We will begin Ch. 7 this week (no chapter tests this nine weeks).

Spelling- No Spelling Test this week because we have so many other tests.

Bible Verse- 2 Peter 1:21 Test Thurs. The students must say the OT books of the Bible by April 15 and the NT books of the Bible by April 22.

Phonics- Pg. 146-150 due Mon. April 12

About Me

My name is Ashley Bledsoe. I grew up in Memphis, TN with my incredible parents and brother. I started going to school at SBEC in the 2nd grade, and graduated there in 2003. I went to Northwest and then to the University of Mississippi where I graduated in 2007. I got married in June of 2006 to an amazing guy, Jordan, who is a civil engineer. We love to travel and have been to several awesome places! This is my 3rd year to teach 4th grade at SBEC. I enjoy working with kids...there is always something new and fun happening each day. My husband and I are members of LHBC where we are very involved.
